T7Design 12v DC 1000w Ducted Electric Cab Heater with 3 Speed Centrifugal Blower

***Please scroll down for a dimensioned schematic and wiring diagrams***

The T7Design 12v DC 1000w ducted electric heater with 3 speed centrifugal blower is perfect for many applications that require a fully electric and reliable heating system. Our heaters are designed with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and quality, we have chosen components manufactured by the leaders in their respective fields for use within our heating systems.

This heater is available in a number of different variations tailored for specific applications and requirements. This version is designed to allow the unit to be hidden away and the hot air ducted out to where it is needed, it is also coupled with a 3 speed centrifugal blower perfect for blowing air down long lengths of ducting. The blower can also be turned down to reduce noise level. Depending on how they are wired in, all of our heaters can be run at a reduced heat output.

NOTE: No switches or wiring is included with the heater; the unit is supplied as shown in the product images. Switches, relays and wiring components are available for purchase separately.

Design & Safety

Only the safest heating elements are used, not only is the surface of the heating element fully electrically insulated but it is also mounted within a non-conductive and temperature resistant housing. The heater elements are self-limiting which means the closer they get to their maximum temperature threshold the less current they draw and the less power is dissipated.

Without airflow the highest temperature the element can reach is approx. 285°c, this is far lower than traditional Resistive Wire which can get as 480°c and Quartz Halogen at 500 - 1500°c. Another advantage of lower operating temperatures is the increase in useful life; the less extreme running temperatures the longer component life you would expect to achieve.

In the unlikely case of a total fan failure or air flow blockage we have included both an 85c bimetallic strip thermostat and a ‘single-use’ thermal fuse into our design, if the internal temperature exceeds 85°c the fuse will break contact shutting off the power to the heating elements.

Wiring Information - 3 Speed Fan & ON/OFF Operation

The wiring diagram below shows the simplest way to wire up this heater but offers the least functionality, the diagram shows how the heater can be wired to offer 3 fan speeds for the centrifugal blower with the accessory out from the fan switch triggering the relay for the PTC heater. As soon as the fan is switched to any speed it will automatically turn on the heater. To operate the fan without heat an additional ON/OFF rocker switch could be installed on the 'Switched Supply' wire.

IMPORTANT: It is necessary for the relays to earth through the thermostat within the heater casing, failure to do so will prevent the thermostat from protecting the heater and its surroundings in the event of an overheating situation. Also, the PTC should not be wired in a way so that the heater elements can be live without the fan running.

Wiring Information - 3 Speed Fan & 500/1000w Operation

The wiring diagram below offers the most control of the heater, this will give 3 speed fan control and variable heat output of 500 or 1000w via the rocker switches, or you can turn the PTC heater off entirely and allow the unit to circulate ambient air.

IMPORTANT: It is necessary for the relays to earth through the thermostat within the heater casing, failure to do so will prevent the thermostat from protecting the heater and its surroundings in the event of an overheating situation. Also, the PTC should not be wired in a way so that the heater elements can be live without the fan running.

attention
ATTENTION
  • To enable safe operation of this Electric Heater, make sure you follow basic safety principles to reduce risk of personal injury, electric shock and fire.
  • Do not use the Electric Heater in wet conditions.
  • Always check the Electric Heater wiring & terminal connections and that the fan is not blocked before use.
  • Do not open the Electric Heater if there is a fault.
  • Do not leave the Electric Heater operating when unattended.
  • If installed in an enclosed space please ensure the feed in is filtered, or if installed openly in a cab please ensure that the unit is cleaned thoroughly with an airline to ensure dust does not build up on the heater element.
