3D Printing

3D Printing Services

T7Design offer an in-house 3D Printing service using a professional grade FDM machine from Stratasys. Our machine is primarily used in-house for prototyping, design validation and creating assembly fixtures, we also offer this as a service to customers. If you would like us to quote please send an STL, IGES or STEP file of your part and we shall get back to you with a quotation.

FDM (fused deposition modelling) technology works with engineering-grade thermoplastics to build strong, long lasting and dimensionally stable parts with the best accuracy and repeatability of any 3D printing technology. These parts are tough enough to be used as advanced conceptual models, functional prototypes, manufacturing tools and production parts.

Commonly Asked Questions

Commonly asked questions about our 3D Printing Services:

How much do you charge?
Every project is different and our costings are primarily based on material usage, this is incredibly difficult to determine without having a 3D model of your part. Please e-mail a file for the most accurate quote.

What materials are available?
Our machine can print the following materials: PLA, ABS, ASA and TPU 92A. We only stock Black ASA but can get hold of different colours if required, we do recommend to stick with Black ASA as this helps keep costs down by not having set up the machine and swap print heads for a different material or colour. ASA has superior aesthetics and allows for consistently high-quality parts; ASA also provides UV stability which makes it well-suited for end-use parts for outdoor commercial and infrastructure use.

Threaded Inserts

Fasteners are often used in everyday assemblies that need to be joined together, with traditional manufactured parts threads are often tapped straight into the material however as 3D printing materials are traditionally much softer it is advised to consider heat-set threaded inserts.

Heat-set threaded inserts are heated up using a soldering iron and gradually pushed into place, the external knurls and ridges allow the melted plastic to flow around them and solidify. Once cooled the insert is firmly held in place and a much greater torque and pulling force can be applied without failure. Our flanged inserts have a large diameter head which helps align the insert perpendicular to the face ensuring proper alignment.

We keep the following sizes of insert in stock. Please use the measurements to draw in the correct size holes ready to accept the insert. We are happy to insert these for you so please notify us of your requirements.

Insert Thread Size A (mm) B (mm) C (mm) Req. Hole Size
